FACADE PROGRAM

The Facade Improvement Grant Program is intended to assist and encourage commercial owners / tenants to improve and / or restore building facades only within the Downtown Thorold area.

By providing financial incentives to property owners / tenants, the program seeks to stimulate private sector investment in the revitalization of existing commercial building facades in the Downtown Thorold area. While explicitly focussing on facade improvements to the building elevations, it also encourages owners / tenants to perform other non-funded improvements such as structural and weather / waterproofing repairs that may be required to maintain overall building integrity.

For a detailed brochure, and to fill out an online application, click here. For further information about this program, please contact: City of Thorold, Planning and Building Services, 905-227-6613 ext. 248, Email: jbernardi@thorold.com.

Important Issues

.

WINTER SIDEWALKS

Please be advised that B.I.A. businesses are responsible for their own snow and ice removal.

The City will clear the alleyway and stairs to the Towpath parking lot.

LARGE GARBAGE ITEMS

Please adhere to disposal regulations. Tenants and landlords must dispose of large items at landfill sites, or by calling private removal companies like “just junk”. Business owners and operators may call the Niagara Regional Waste Information line at 905-356-4141 between the hours of 8:00-4:30 Mon-Fri. Waste removal is a ‘regional’ matter, and they will handle your concerns. If you have large items lying around that do not belong to you, the region will send out a regional by-law officer to resolve the issue in a timely manner. Commercial establishments and mixed use buildings do not currently qualify for the call-in curb side collection of large household items and appliances.

STREET PARKING

Parking on the street is intended for patrons only, and enforced by city by-law officials.

Members and employees are to park in any of multiple parking lots available throughout the BIA to keep the street parking free for visitors.
